We are regularly asked about providing short depth 3U servers, or DC powered 3U servers to be fitted into vehicles such as vans, yachts and buses .
As 3U servers are larger than 1U and 2U servers, they take up a lot more room in a rackmount cabinets. Therefore you can only install 14 x 3U servers in a 42U Cabinet
As the fans are much larger on a 3U server, to keep the Servers cool they can spin slower to create the right amount of airflow. For this reason some 3U servers can be quieter than smaller 1U or 2U servers.
