Open-E DSS is known for delivering amazing performance, strong security and cost-effective scalability. Based on XFS, it allows both smaller and medium sized businesses to take advantage of high performance at the fraction of the cost of other software solutions on the market. Coming with a variety of great features and capabilities, Open-E DSS is one of the very best storage software solutions available today.
This software solution features efficient cluster configuration, enabling you to configure both nodes while connected to a single system. There are a number of tools that you can take advantage of for efficient cluster management. These include the resource pool overview, configuration statuses or the remote node status. A failover manager provides an overview of cluster configurations, while Maintenance Mode enables you to continuously running the virtual IPs and stop the cluster. Maintenance Mode also allows you to reconfigure the cluster and even replace hardware without suffering any downtime.
Open-E DSS V7 offers transparent failover and fault tolerance via synchronous Volume Replication for iSCSI Targets or NFS Shares. There are two nodes where all volumes are mirrored synchronously over the two nodes. If one fails, all the operations are switched over to the other one.
This solution supports Windows, Unix, FTP, Secure FTP, HTTPS, Linux, Mac OS 8.0 - 10.5.8, X, Apple Talk, iSCSI, NFS v2, v3, Fibre Channel and more.
Open-E DSS supports older hardware and features backward compatibility. It supports legacy hardware as well as the latest hardware available, covering the full spectrum for maximum compatibility.
This software solution is also compatible with a variety of backup software. You can choose to use Open-E DSS’s built in backup and restore features, or you can make use of 3rd party backup clients such as Backup Exec, Retrospect, BrightStor, Vertias, EMC Dantz, and more.
It also features an open storage API, that is used to facilitate communication between different software programs, ensuring very simple third-party integration and maximum compatibility.
The new High Availability Cluster Management Mode allows the user to enjoy an easy method of reconfiguring their setup or replacing failed hardware without having to suffer any downtime. You can also reconfigure and rebuild the cluster configuration during production, as well as replace components.
There are a number of additional cluster tools, including resource pool overview, failover manager, remote node status, configuration statuses, etc. The software reviews all the critical settings on each node, ensuring that clusters will not be started if there is a mistake in the configuration. There is a built-in initial configuration wizard that supports you with all the network and system settings.
There is a Task and Schedule Manager, that allows you to create automatic schedules for tasks such as taking snapshots or volume replication. Setup is very easy, and once done it works automatically so you won’t have to worry about it and can instead focus on other tasks.
Open-E DSS 7 features automated updates, regularly updating your software to keep it as current as possible. There is also a Rollback feature, that allows you to simply rollback if there is ever a problem. This significantly reduces the system downtime.
Monitoring is very easy, in fact if an issue such as an HDD problem was to occur you would be immediately notified via e-mail and would be able to quickly fix the issue.
This software solution has been specifically designed to be very user friendly. The webGUI features intuitive navigation, with users being able to directly access all the features the Open-E DSS V7 has to offer.
Open-E DSS runs on a Linux platform. Linux is known for its proven stability and reliability, unlike other alternative options that are often less stable and provide limited support for the latest hardware.
The newest kernel of Open-E DSS V7 is much improved and features a number of useful qualities. It features increased performance and high compatibility all the while ensuring strong stability.
The system journals and tracks all changes that are made before they effect the main file system. This make the system safer and more reliable as you have a clear log of every change that was made, information that could be invaluable should something ever go wrong in the future.
The OS that is used by Open-E is independent from a device, meaning it gives you the opportunity to use more varied hardware options (this includes both legacy and modern). Another benefit is that you also do not need another copy of Windows.
Your data is continuously replicated and backed up, which is far more effective than the 24-hour snapshot backups generated by most other software solutions on the market. Restoration of this data is also very quick in comparison with other options.
Our CyberStore storage appliances are designed to be ideal for your business needs. Our storage servers come free of vendor locking, meaning you will never find yourself in a situation where you are only limited to buying from us. Our storage servers are compatible with 3rd party hardware, giving you full control over what additional hardware you wish to buy for your setup.
Most importantly, our CyberStore storage appliances are fully compatible with all major storage software. Unlike the vast majority of other brands out there, when you purchase a storage server from us, you will be able to run any of the major storage software available. You will never be limited to just one piece of software. Its that customer freedom that sets us apart from many of the other brands in this field.
Over almost 3 decades, we have served some of the very largest organisations on Earth. NASA, Sony, the BBC, Sky, Virgin and Tesco are simply a few of the huge names we have provided storage server technology to.
We believe in providing customers with the fairest and most manageable prices possible. We never hike up our prices to take advantage of the consumer, a practice that is common among many of the biggest names in this industry. We simply provide storage technology just as good (if not better) than the largest brands in this business, all the while offering them at the very best prices you will find on the market.

The Broadberry CyberStore range of enterprise-grade storage servers are designed and built for a wide-range of storage applications.
Completely customisable from processing to storage type and capacity, to operating system - the CyberStore range is your go-to storage platform.
The CyberStore range of storage servers are used by the world's largest organisations from the BBC, to the CERN project, governement institutions, universities and much more.
Year-after-year, the Broadberry CyberStore range of unified storage appliances has beaten the likes of Dell and HPE to be crowned "Best Storage Appliance" by PC Pro magazine.
When compared to the likes of DELL, HPE, EMC etc, the Broadberry CyberStore range of enterprise-grade unified storage appliances is up to 60% cheaper, although using the same quality components such as Seagate drives and Kingston RAM.
The Bradberry CyberStore range has been built from industry-leading commodity hardware, and carefully designed to ensuure full compatibility with leading storage operating systems and database engines.
Broadberry enterprise storage appliances are on average 86% lower cost than EMC and 55% lower cost than DELL although built using the same leading-brand server components such as Intel processors and Samsung memory. HPE hard drives are rebadged Toshiba enterprise-class drives, the exact same models as found in Broadberry storage appliances.
When you buy a Broadberry storage appliance all drive bays are supplied with caddies - so if in 6 months time you decide to expand the storage you can source it freely from the marketplace or ourselves if you wish. The only way to add hard drives to HPE servers is to buy the drives along with caddies from HPE for 200% the price of Broadberry's price.
Broadberry storage appliances come with enterprise-grade features like IPMI included, whereas HPE charge large fees for perpetual licences for the same features.
Our website allows you to configure your server online with accurate prices, as opposed to NetApp who require several face-to-face meetings with them before they'll give you a price.
Over recent years there's been a massive move from the world's largest organisations such as Google to purchase their servers from the likes of Broadberry rather than DELL and HPE. This move is fuelled by the rise in commodity hardware.
Before leaving our build and configuration facility, all of our server and storage solutions undergo an extensive 48 hour testing procedure. This, along with the high quality industry leading components that we use ensures all of our systems meet the strictest quality guidelines.
Our main objective is to offer great value, high quality server and storage solutions, we understand that every company has different requirements and as such are able to offer a complete customization service to provide server and storage solutions that meet your individual needs.
We have established ourselves as one of the biggest storage providers in the US, and since 1989 been trusted as the preferred supplier of server and storage solutions to some of the world's biggest brands, including:
