The businesses of today require infrastructure capable of handling the data-intensive workloads in the data centre. In-memory databases, high-density virtual desktop infrastructure deployments and complex analytics applications all need infrastructure that delivers performance, scalability, manageability and security. To deliver peak performance, many enterprise workloads also require significant amounts of system memory. However for the majority of businesses, expanding DRAM is not a viable option due to cost and limitations in capacity.
Intel Select Solutions for VMware vSAN v2 provide pre-configured server solutions that have been fully optimised by VMware and Intel. The server solutions in this range have been built on high-performance infrastructure designed and built to handle demanding and latency sensitive use cases. The second version of Intel Select Solutions for VMware vSAN v2 surpasses the capabilities of the previous generation of Intel Select Solutions for VMware vSAN v2 by specifically facilitating performance for memory-constrained workloads.
Hybrid cloud infrastructure manages to combine the advantages of an on-premises infrastructure with the instant availability and flexibility offered by the public cloud. Businesses continue to adapt their existing computing resources to the ever-evolving requirements and market needs and while there are a variety of services that are ideal for the public cloud, certain workloads are better suited to remaining on-premises. An example is sensitive data that is needed for machine-learning models.
Enterprises are increasingly opting for hybrid cloud options due to the flexibility and business agility they provide. Hybrid cloud is growing in importance as AI and machine-learning workloads become more and more prevalent. With the end-to-end solutions Intel and VMware deliver, enterprises are able to very quickly launch database processing and AI, as well as scale workloads to accommodate future requirements. The hybrid cloud nature of the Intel server solution with VMware enables enterprises to extend available resources and effortlessly migrate workloads from on-premises to the cloud and back.
The Intel server solutions in this range feature VMware Cloud Foundation, including VMware vSphere, VMware vSAN, VMware NSX-T Data Center, VMware vRealize Suite and VMware Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) Manager to deliver infrastructure-as-a-service capabilities. In addition to this, Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated (TKGi) is utilised for a Kubernetes-based container solution.
VMware Cloud on AWS is used as the end destination for the hybrid architecture. VMware Hybrid Cloud Extension allows for VM migration, workload rebalancing and protection between on-premises and cloud. In addition to business continuity, it also delivers network extension for multi-tier without altering the VM properties.
Enterprises require high-performance data analytics and AI in order to remain competitive in today’s modern landscape. Solutions need to be flexible and able to run traditional data analytics and AI applications. The VMware hybrid cloud platforms feature components that leverage performance optimisation for Intel hardware in a VMware infrastructure. Intel Servers support developing machine workloads at a multitude of layers in the solution stack. These building blocks allow for enterprises to very quickly operationalise analytics, machine learning and AI workloads as they are pre-optimised and have been verified with multiple product deployments. Therefore, enterprises can instantly begin using them.
